About

Why construction choose FJL.

Construction waste splits two ways. The build itself generates inert, mixed and segregated construction and demolition waste, which is its own regulated flow and the main reason most sites call us. That goes into builders skips, roll on roll off containers, or hookloader bins depending on the volume and the access. The other half is the site office, welfare units and canteen, and that falls under Simpler Recycling like any other workplace. Since 31 March 2025, sites with 10 or more staff across the enterprise have had to separate food waste, paper and card, and dry recyclables in the welfare area. FJL has run skip hire and trade waste across West London, Surrey and the Thames Valley as an independent waste operator. Most new customers find us cheaper than what they had before, and our drivers know the council permit teams personally. Full skip hire detail is at /skip-hire.

What they need

What construction need from a waste partner.

Skips delivered when the build needs them

Same-day and next-day on most postcodes. Builders skips, mini skips, midi skips, hookloader bins and roll on roll off containers, sized to the job and the access.

Permits handled, not chased

If the skip needs to sit on the public highway, we handle the council permit. Our drivers deal with local permit teams every week and know what each borough wants.

Welfare and canteen compliance

Site offices and welfare units fall under Simpler Recycling. We run the separated bins alongside the build waste so the whole site is compliant on one account.

Roll on roll off for big sites

20 and 40 yard containers swapped on demand for demolition, strip-out and groundworks. One yard call gets a container on the lorry the same day in most cases.

How we help

How FJL helps construction.

We run our own fleet from Uxbridge, so when a site rings for a skip the call goes to a person who can look at the diary and tell you when the lorry is on its way. That sounds basic, and it is, but it is the difference between a build that keeps moving and one that sits with a full skip nobody is collecting. Builders skips, mini and midi skips for tight access, hookloader bins for sites with the room, and roll on roll off containers for the bigger jobs. Full detail on sizes, pricing and permits is at /skip-hire.

Permits on the public highway are part of the service. Our drivers work with the West London, Surrey and Thames Valley permit teams week in week out, so we know which boroughs need 48 hours notice, which want lighting and cones on a particular spec, and which will tow a skip without warning if the paperwork is wrong. You ring, we sort it.

The welfare side often gets forgotten. The build waste might be a 20 yard roll on roll off, but the canteen, office and welfare unit are subject to Simpler Recycling like any other workplace. We add a food waste bin and separated dry recyclables to the site at no fuss, on the same account as the skips, so duty of care paperwork is in one place and the Environment Agency has nothing to grumble about if they ever turn up.

FAQ

Common questions about construction waste.

What sizes of skip do you have?

Mini skips from 2 yards, midis at 4 to 6, builders skips at 8 yards, and hookloader bins from 12 to 16 yards. For big sites we run 20 and 40 yard roll on roll off containers. Full breakdown and pricing is at /skip-hire.

How fast can you get a skip on site?

Same-day on most postcodes if you ring before mid-morning. Next-day is the standard if you book ahead. The bottleneck is usually permits on public highway placements, not the lorry.

Do you handle the council permit?

Yes. If the skip is going on the public highway we apply for the permit and arrange the lighting and cones. Our drivers know the West London, Surrey and Thames Valley borough permit teams personally.

Does Simpler Recycling apply to a construction site?

It applies to the welfare side, so the site office, canteen and welfare units. Since 31 March 2025, if the enterprise has 10 or more staff across the business, you have to separate food waste, paper and card, and dry recyclables in the welfare area. The build waste itself is governed by separate construction and demolition waste rules.

Can you handle hazardous or asbestos waste?

Asbestos and hazardous flows are specialist work and we will tell you straight if a particular load needs a specialist carrier instead. For everything else, inert, mixed builders waste, plasterboard, timber and metals, we have it covered.

Can you exchange skips on a long-running site?

Yes. Most longer projects run on skip exchange. We swap full for empty on a regular schedule, or on demand, and you only pay for the actual lifts.

Do you cover demolition?

Yes. Strip-out, soft-strip and demolition are usually best handled with roll on roll off containers and a regular exchange schedule. Tell us the site, the access and the rough timeline and we will size the kit.

How quickly can you give me a price?

Today. Tell us the postcode, the size you think you need and whether the skip is going on private land or the highway. You will have a clear price back the same day.
